Computer Software is a set of instructions that allows the user
to do something useful with a computer system
Software designed to be used for a wide variety of different
application tasks is generic software
Of-the-shelf software is readily available for a particular use.
Usually has more features that necessary, so it can be
used for a wide variety of tasks. E.g. a word processor.
Custom-written software would be characterised as having to gone
through the whole System Development Lifecycle. It�s specially produced to
solve a particular problem.
